What lies beneath
My relationship with writing is complicated. I wish I could say I've always loved writing from a young age and throughout my career, but that's simply not the case. Meaningful writing has been a struggle for me—one that has lightened over time, but remains a challenge, as it should. When I genuinely dig deep into what I'm writing about, it's often to myself—in a journal, publishing articles about my thoughts, or taking a position on something meaningful. This kind of soul searching has been difficult for me, but I believe in it. I believe we need to do it to get at the heart of who we are, how we think, how we thought we think, how we feel and how we show up and why we don’t. This self-reflection, accountability, and truth-seeking - outward and inward - forge a thoughtful, strong writer. I'm willing to do the work. I'm willing to face the challenge. I am willing to ask the tough questions and go deep - both for me and more importantly for you.
I've been fortunate to travel most of the world. My early career was spent living and working throughout Europe and parts of Asia as an athlete and leader in high-tech and video games. I've also extensively explored the Americas. This exploration profoundly shaped my worldview and ability to connect with fellow humans no matter where they are. This, too, is part of my writing—those memories, moments, and connections are deep wells from which I draw.
My life has taken me from a scrappy, battered child to a Harlon Hill finalist, international rugby player, marketer, entrepreneur, father, and writer. I've shared space with world leaders, heroes, and some of the most brilliant minds in the world. I've loved infrequently but deeply. I love the mountains. I'm profoundly curious about what the human body and mind are capable of, spending considerable time following the science and practitioners of brain health, strength, and resilience.
If this journey and perspective resonate with you, let’s connect.

"Creative work is not a selfish act or a bid for attention on the part of the actor. It's a gift to the world and every being in it. Don't cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you've got."
